The pleasure/price principle

Given the sober economic climate, people plan to savor simple pleasures, thoughtful gestures and togetherness more than ever this year. Along with tightening personal budgets, this will lead to more considered holiday spending, with consumers focusing on the pleasure/price ratio: Which products and services offer the greatest scope for real pleasure at an affordable price? For retailers and brands, this may not mean big sales, but it could make the difference between the consumer buying something, albeit something modest, and buying nothing because it doesn’t feel right.
